Ahorn Z is famous in the Holsteiner breed for producing international show jumpers and successful breeding stallions. Ahorn’s Calypso is a 3/4 brother to his sons ACORD I (international grand prix horse with Hap Hansen) and ACORD II (an exceptionally popular breeding stallion, Reserve Champion of the German Federal Show Jumping Championship for 5-year-olds, and Grand Champion of the 100 Day Stallion Test). Ahorn Z is a son of the legendary ALME, who has produced many top international jumpers and breeding stallions. Ahorn’s dam HEUREKA, competed internationally (winning the Grand Prix of Aachen) and is ranked as one of the best broodmares in the world. Ahorn Z is a full brother to ARGENTINA Z, dam of Olympic Gold Medalist and World Cup Champion, RATINA Z.

1st dam: EPISODE II, by Calypso I.
Episode II is a States Premium mare and descends from a line of States Premium mares (HSP). Her sire, Calypso I, sired 20 approved stallions and almost 100 States Premium mares. His progeny are both international dressage horses (COMMODORE, CAMPARI) and show jumpers (CABINETT, CALANDO). Episode’s pedigree also includes the important bloodlines of LADYKILLER, and FARNESE.

PERFORMANCE RECORD:
Ahorn’s Calypso was approved at the Holsteiner Stallion approvals in Neumunster, Germany in 1997. He was one of only seven stallions to receive Premium status. Ahorn’s Calypso was the highest bonited stallion of the 1999 AHHA Stallion Licensing, receiving 8s on his type, as well as his trot and canter with the comments, “Very good modern type. He has a lovely big reaching trot and very powerful canter. His maternal granddam has produced three Grand Prix jumpers, and he himself shows great talent over fences.”

Ahorn’s Calypso will begin his career in the show ring in 2000.
